CGE - The Classic Gaming Expo

The Show:

The largest and most recognized expo dedicated exclusively to classic video games draws gamers and classic video game celebrities from all over the country. Run by classic video game fans, CGE has a ten year history and a famous museum of classic video game artifacts.

Events:

  • Exhibitors Room: Loads of exhibitors and dealers, showing off their wears as well as selling old and new gaming goodness.
  • Swap Meet Room: With tables available to rent for $5 an hour, gamers are encouraged to buy, sell and trade video games, systems and merchandise with fellow members of the community. All the proceeds are donated to the Special Olympics.
  • Live Auction: Featuring game rarities, one of a kind items and original systems.
  • Classic Game Inspired Music Performances: Past acts include 8-Bit Weapon, The Digital Revolution, and FirestARTer.
  • Prizes and tournaments: Contests and high-score competitions.

Exhibitions:

  • The CGE Museum: See the history of gaming right before your eyes with the oldest, rarest and most innovative archives from the CGE collection. The CGE Museum was once part of the E3 Expo and touted as the largest exhibit of its kind in the world.
  • The Classic Arcade: Loads of coin-op classic arcade games set-up for free play.
  • Classic game consoles: The greatest (and ratest) classic console systems will also be set up for free play.
  • Homebrewed Games: Many fans are now creating new games for the classic systems they love. Check out the newest "classic" games you've never seen before. You can even buy them at the show.

Special Guests:

Every year CGE invites the legends of classic games to join them for lectures, presentations and autorgraphs.

  • Don Bluth: Famed animator and co-creator of Dragon's Lair and Space Ace.

  • DAVID CRANE: Co-founder of Activision and designer of Pitfall!, Decathlon, A Boy and His Blob.
  • DON DAGLOW: Designer of Neverwinter Nights and Utopia.
  • KAREN NUGENT: Artist who designed the look of BurgerTime, Super Pro Football and many others.
