Graphical Adventure

Definition: A game genre combining animated images, text, and audio in an interactive narrative. Players interact with the game and environment by typing in commands, then watching the results of their actions in the game graphics.

Eventually the text command interface, this process evolved into point-and-click adventures allowing players more direct control over the characters and environments.

Graphical adventures were created by Ken and Roberta Williams, and evolved out of computer text games. The first graphical adventure game was Mystery House, published by Sierra On-Line in 1980.
